UCR Osher Fall Courses Open for Enrollment: Riverside and Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, CA – Fall courses at UCR Osher Palm Desert and UCR Osher Riverside Centers are now open for enrollment. Considered as a lifelong learning institute, which considers member students seeking knowledge.

This fall term is the first under new UCR Osher Principal Johnna Norris.

Norris, a Coachella Valley resident, was appointed in July and oversees the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute member program in Riverside and Palm Desert, a UCR Osher spokesperson said in a recent statement.

“We are adults with varied interests in history, literature, natural and social sciences, fine arts and special events,” Norris told the website. “The 2022-2023 membership year will be an opportunity to rebuild Osher at UCR with classes and in-person events at the Riverside and Palm Desert campuses.”

The recently released Fall 2022 catalog contains a comprehensive curriculum of courses for lifelong learners aged 50 and over, and reflects the varied interests of UCR Osher members. Classes include everything from American cinema to impressionist art, history to current events. Classes will be held in person in Palm Desert and Riverside, and remote classes will be offered over Zoom.

The centers offer online courses for those who prefer to learn from home or want to continue taking courses while abroad.

“There really is something for everyone this fall at Osher at UCR,” Norris wrote in a welcome letter to prospective members. “Please help us continue to provide quality mature adult education programs by renewing your membership and registering for classes today.”

Osher student Christine Waaijenberg Miller spoke of her enjoyment of the program.

“Just finished another Osher course and loved it!” Miller said. “What a great way to enrich your mind and your life. It’s a pleasure to be with others who also like to keep learning!
