Scholarship Opportunities Available for Appalachian Ohio Students Pursuing Post-Secondary Education

Press release

Appalachian Ohio students prepare to take the next step in their education by attending post-secondary colleges, universities, or career centers, and scholarships are key to ensuring that each student has the resources to pursue her dreams.

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is pleased to once again open scholarship applications. FAO offers a variety of scholarships for students from different countries with varying interests and fields of study. Students can identify one or more scholarships suited to their study plans. These awards were made possible by the residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio, who know that preparing students for success is one of the most beneficial things they can do for local youth and their communities. This is why many FAO donors have together created more than 280 scholarship funds aimed at encouraging the pursuit of post-secondary studies.

All information on individual scholarship opportunities, including guidelines, eligibility, and application procedures, is available on the FAO website at www.AppalachianOhio.org/ScholarshipApplications. Completed applications and all accompanying documents should be emailed to [email protected] by March 15, 2022, or postmarked no later than March 15, 2022, to the office of the Foundation at FAO, PO Box 456, Nelsonville, OH 45764.

Each year, the Ohio Appalachian Foundation offers scholarships to students in the 32 Appalachian counties of Ohio. In 2021, 276 students from Appalachia in Ohio received more than $555,000 in scholarships from scholarship funds established by donors at FAO. For more information on how to develop scholarship resources for area students, please visit www.AppalachianOhio.org or call 740-753-1111.
