PNCA will present an exhibition of paintings and crafts from the heritage of Rohtas Fort on September 27

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan National Arts Council (PNCA) will present an exhibition of heritage paintings and handicrafts from Rohtas Fort to mark World Tourism Day 2022 on September 27-28 at its premises.

According to the details, works of art showcasing the collection of no less than 13 talented artists from all over the country are exhibited, experimented with oil, acrylic and watercolor mediums to promote sustainable tourism and manager at Rohtas Fort World Heritage Site. The event is organized by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) in collaboration with UNESCO Islamabad and Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), PNCA and Serena Hotels.

Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) with the support of AICS and technical assistance from UNESCO Islamabad in collaboration with the Directorate General of Archeology – Punjab has conducted a series of interventions to engage the local community living around of Fort Rohtas in the safeguarding of cultural heritage between 2020 and 2021. This included training tour guides and creating a social enterprise to create handmade souvenirs.

Following the successful conclusion of these interventions, STFP developed an innovative strategy to increase the sustainability of social enterprise. Thirteen talented artists participated in guided tours, taught basic painting techniques to local schoolchildren, and created paintings live on site. The artists also worked with STFP to promote sustainable and responsible tourism at the World Heritage site.
