Synonym of ‘Rurouni Kenshin’

ONE OK ROCK’s YouTube special follows two finals Rurouni Kenshin films, for which the group provided the soundtrack.

A staple of the film franchise since its creation 10 years ago, A ROCK OK has become almost synonymous with the character of Kenshin. Many fans like me believe that no Kenshin movie would be complete without the sound of veteran J-rock playing in the credits of the films. (Trivia: ONE OK ROCK frontman Taka is good friends with Kenshin himself, actor Takeru Satoh.)

For the first Rurouni Kenshin film released in 2012, ONE OK ROCK provided “The beginning. “In the sequels of films released one after the other in 2014, the group interpreted”Powerful long fall” for Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno, and “Grief” for Rurouni Kenshin: the end of the legend.

As the band wraps up the final chapter in Kenshin’s story, ONE OK ROCK fans will surely have more to look forward to as the acoustic live draw nears and signs of a new album loom on the horizon.

ONE OK ROCK was formed in 2005, when the current members were in their late teens. The group takes its name from the Japanese pronunciation of “one hour” (wan-ō-ku-ro-ku). This is in reference to their experience in their early days, when they used to book studios for their group practice at one in the morning because the rent was cheaper during odd hours.

The rock band went on to release nine studio albums; a 10th release is expected in 2021. The band has enjoyed growing success with both mainstream and international audiences, in part thanks to its last three albums, all released in two versions: one with mixed English-Japanese lyrics and one with purely English lyrics . The group has also collaborated with renowned international artists, such as Avril Lavigne, All the time down, 5 seconds of summer, and Ed Sheeran. ONE OK ROCK is signed on the American label Ramen powered alongside groups such as Paramore, Panic! At the disco, and Twenty-one pilots.
