No ski resort or helicopter skiing at POWDR Holland Lake Lodge

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – At a town hall meeting Tuesday night at Seeley Lake Elementary School, a large crowd gathered to share their thoughts and feelings about buying the iconic Holland Lake Lodge at POWDR, a Utah-based company. leisure company.

Facilitated by the US Forest Service, Tamara McKenzie started with the basic facts of the project.

A private company with a forest service permit

“This is a private company that has a Forest Service permit to operate on Forest Service land,” McKenzie said. “The Forest Service does not own the buildings and they are licensed to operate on Forest Service land. The other thing is that there are many other businesses that you may be familiar with such as outfitting and guiding services which are all privately owned. They all go through this very similar process. Residences would go through this process to make improvements or changes to their operating plan. So that’s the process I’m going to discuss tonight.

POWDR Communications Director Stacey Hutchinson addressed the rally and initially tried to dispel some misinformation about the Holland Lake Lodge process.

“I’m going to share two points of information with you right now,” Hutchinson began. “One is a website that we have created to hopefully clear up some of the misinformation that’s been floating around. This will help dispel some myths and share what we will and will not do. This website is Holland So I encourage everyone to go there. There is also an area at the bottom of the home page. If you scroll all the way down you can post comments and they will all come to us at POWDR so we can see each one.

No ski resort and no helicopter skiing

Hutchinson was also candid in dispelling one of the concerns recently expressed by the Center for Biological Diversity about possible helicopter skiing that would endanger critical grizzly bear and fish habitats.

“We will be implementing many ‘dark sky friendly’ operations to ensure that we preserve the beauty of Holland Lake Lodge,” she said. “So a few things that we don’t do that I think are really important to clarify. We are not installing ski lifts or ski slopes, there will be no helicopter skiing, there will be no helicopters and there will be no motorized boats in the lake and we will not will not rent them to our guests.

If everything goes according to plan and the project progresses on schedule, the POWDR project will open from March 2023.
