‘Educational and entertaining’: Overture Center’s Kids in the Rotunda series kicks off | New

MADISON (WKOW) — If you’re looking for a family-friendly, free Saturday morning activity over the next few months, look no further than the Overture Center for the Art’s Kids in the Rotunda Series.

It will kick off on October 1 with performances by the Black Star Drum Line.

Every Saturday there will be a performance at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“It provides a wonderful experience for children’s programs,” said Henry Alloway, education and engagement assistant at the Overture Center. “We have magicians, we have cultural experiences, all kinds of different experiences for kids.”

Each week, a brand new show is offered to children and their parents or guardians. Alloway said she has many sponsors who make it all possible, including the American Girl Fund for Children and Madison Gas & Electric.

“We also have a strong interest in providing these experiences,” they said. “It’s one of our priorities at Overture to be able to offer these experiences for free.”

Every performance from now until the end of April not only offers entertainment value, but also a chance to learn a little something.

“We want to make sure Overture is a space where everyone is welcome, especially children,” Alloway said. “We want to make sure they walk through the doors and can come away learning something or experiencing something that they might not have found elsewhere.”

You can check the performance list on the Overture website.
