The training was organized by the Angkor Tourism Development Department in collaboration with experts from the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The objective of the training is to ensure the safety of tourists and crews.
Department of Angkor Park Temples Preservation and Preventive Archeology Department Director Im Sokrithy said APSARA Authority pays special attention to increasing its capacity by transferring knowledge and experience from researchers to experts. More importantly, he also pays special attention to the training of tour guides who work directly in the temples.
The director continued that the training course will educate tour guides in general knowledge of the stones used to build temples, their history, erosion and evolution of temple architecture, as well as identify areas to risk in the temples. The director added that the basic knowledge is to enable them to be able to observe the general condition of the temples and to avoid risks.
